He Never Swung

Sargeant Patrick O'Neill along with fellow officers entered the home of Tommy O'Connor one cold February day. They were there to serve a warrant for his arrest. Tommy opened fire on the officers, resulting in the death of the Sgt. He would be charged and convicted for the crime of the officer's death. Four days before he was meant to hang, Tommy managed to get his hands on a gun, escape the prison yard and hitch a ride on a vehicle passing by the prison at that moment. He was never heard from again. Some believe he went back to Ireland, others think he made his way to Mexico. Even more believe he became a monk. The gallows waited for him for fifty long years, hidden away in the basement of the Criminal Courts building in the city. It wasn't until 60 years later that the gallows were finally taken down and put in a museum. By that time O'Connor could have long been dead. Source: Google / Listverse Above Write up by me.

That was a daring escape. I guess he had nothing to lose.
