I personally feel kindness is more important than intelligence. Kindness is something that is vital, intelligence can be acquired with the passage of time. A good leader must be considerate, only then he will be loved and appreciated. Intelligence is no doubt a turn on, but without the sense of humanity it's of no use.
I have heard number of times, many people quit jobs because their bosses are too bossy and they don't consider their subordinated as humans, they make them work crazy and finally don't even appreciate their efforts, that's insane.
Intelligence can be given points but without the humanity and kindness it's of no use....

You are right. Intelligence and kindness should go hand in hand.

The right thing is to keep a balance between kindness and intelligence, which not all the bosses in the world master, but I am sure a huge amount of them do.
