Banana Peppers

My daughter's father in law gave me these banana peppers last week because he thought he had too many. I think he was just tired of repotting plants and ready to get the job over and done with. I'm not a big banana pepper fan, but will slice one up to go on a fresh salad sometimes. My husband does like them so I took them. He will slice them up and eat along with a meal. I shouldn't get a lot of peppers from just four plants so we will see how this goes. Banana peppers is not something I usually plant. We will see how it goes. Do you like banana peppers? And if so, how do you like to eat them?

They are a very mild pepper that works well in salads. Also a favorite for pickling.

@Hannihar Nothing like bell peppers or red peppers actually. They are not real spicy like hot peppers. All I can say to describe them is that they are mild and tasty.

I don't know what banana peppers are and not sure I've ever had them. I do like other spicy peppers and use some in salads and in cooking.

They are not hot but more tangy if that makes sense. They are great in salads.

I'm not a fan. I usually take them off whatever has them on.

@kareng Oh, I thought those were the hot peppers. Then I don't mind them...but still not one of my favorites.

We have banana pepper here, but I've never plant them. I had it before other spicy peppers, but I can not eat them, they are very hot

They are pretty easy to grow. I have peppers on mine already. Banana peppers are not really hot.

@Tonietta I will be using it to season both meat and veggies when the plants start producing. I don't care for sardines. You can have all those ;)

@kareng we use to add more taste on our meat and veggies dish,or we just stir fry it and add sardines:)

@Sreekala The description that @mayka23 gave says they are spicy and these peppers are not spicy at all, so I'm guessing another plant.

Well, they don't taste anything like a banana. I think they get their name from the shape of the pepper. It's shaped like a banana. They are very mild as far as peppers go.

Yes, I think this will be more than enough for us being four plants. It may be more than we need and I'll share with a neighbor.

I will definitely add them to stewed chicken when they ripen. I would not have thought of that.
