Information about it will be below my re-telling of this. As well as a link to the song in question. A man is walking through the forest when he starts to hear singing. He follows the voice and finds a fair beauty with locks of red hair and piercing green eyes. He falls in love with her and demands she be his wife. The maiden refuses him, but kindly. He returns the next day but this time she is more forceful. She tells him that she can not leave. He returns on the third day with an ax, and cuts down her tree. The maiden weeps as he does this. Once the job is done he grabs her hand and tells her she is no longer tethered here. She follows him, all the while begging that he leave her be. She collapses before they leave the forest, her body disappearing and in it's place a beautiful flower blooms. The song in the video was based off of Celtic Mythology, though I am sure there are probably roots of this to be found in other mythologies. I find the song to be beautiful and thought I'd share it here.

I thought so. I'm pretty sure the "Willow Maid" was supposed to be a faerie. The video certainly depicts her as such.

I'm not familiar with this story, but think there is a myth in which one of the (Greek or Roman) God's turns a woman into a tree because she spurned him. Can't remember for sure.

That sounds like it'd be plausible. I'm not really brushed up on mythology. I just really liked this song and thought I'd share it. What I gathered is that the singer or songwriter based it loosely off of mythology.
