Few days ago, I was worried about my house help that she isn't treated well by my In- Laws, today my other maid who stays with us fell ill because of heat problem. She is made to cook around 12 dishes for just 5 people, in the scorching heat in the kitchen. Even she isn't allowed to use air cooler, because of which she isn't able to sleep at night. Its almost 45 degrees here, we can't even sit without an air conditioner. I am worried she might fall sick because of too much work and heat issues. I have always tried to comfort her, but she stays on the ground floor and there I can't do much. I am still unable to understand, as in why are they being so nasty...???

@Aansh13 this is sad. I wish they develop some feelings for the help.

I am not sure about the reason, bit generally I haven't seen them being empathetic towards the house helps. They usually treat them this way...

I spoke to her, she shares most of her problems. I suggested her to go home for a day or two, she might feel better. But here the problem is, I need to explain to my in-laws that they are pushing her to limits, she might break of.

Your maid is very hardworking, but she needs to take a rest or day off sometimes

I can relate to that situation. I think the problem is the old traditional feudal mindset. It is that deep rooted thought that servant is to serve you. And in our country there is less awareness of labor dignity. You only can talk to your in laws in a cool and composed way.

@Aansh13 We are no more in era of servant and master mindset. It is more of mutual understanding. And in every relationship a mutual respect is a must. That is human.

Yes I think what you are saying is absolutely correct. I will try to talk to them, hoping I can make things better for her. I really feel she is nice and caring and she needs to be taken care of as well.
