Trevi Fountain in Rome is a thoroughly touristy, but it was built in 1732 was part if the water system of Rome. It is a lovely place, if not overrun by tourists. It is the last of the great Baroque fountains in the city and one of the most famous in all the world. My photo Wikipedia facts

A lot of people throw coins over their left shoulders,,,hoping to return. The coins are collected and given to charity, as I was told.

It is lovely, and quite close to many other sites in the area.
