A dog named Oliver who is about one year of age was rescued by employees at the Memphis Animal Services recently after he was seen in a backyard of a family. Oliver was taken to the animal shelter with his food bowl attached to his mouth since the dog just loves to eat food. However, Oliver was going to be put down soon unless someone would adopt him according to the group "Wilson, Rosie and Pickle Pete." on the Facebook social page. The post was successful to the point that two ladies were able to adopt Oliver from the animal shelter before he scheduled to be put to sleep since Oliver since sharing his bowl with other dogs was off limits. Talk about being saved by the bell in the case of Oliver finding a new home with his food bowl.

These stories are amazing. I have known people to travel across the country to adopt an animal that was going to be put to sleep. They are so uplifting.

A dog like Oliver reminds me of my late dog Hero who used to chomp on a rope when I would take him for a walk in the neighborhood in Metairie.

Why would a young dog be put to sleep?

@Deepizzaguy I think that it is absurd to call a dog greedy. Only human beings deserve that title sometimes.

The animal shelter said that Oliver was greedy with his food plate which painted him as a villain with the other dogs in the shelter. I was shocked.

@Deepizzaguy sometimes I feel being on street is much better than being kept in such shelters.

It would been tragic had Oliver been put to sleep.

I guess his having his picture being taken a bowl in his mouth sold him to many people who wanted to adopt him.

That's so amazing... Plus Oliver looks good and happy. Being a dog lover, I am absolutely happy to read this discussion, I would really suggest people to adopt pets rather than buying

That's a very good point. People should understand that while they buying dog from breeders there are plenty others who are in real need and in threat of putting to sleep.

Thank goodness he was saved. It would have been terrible to put such a sweet and cute young dog to sleep.

I love such stories and they truly deserve to get more coverage in media to encourage more and more people to adopt pets from shelters and give those sweet and loyal creatures like Oliver chance for better life.
