JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE 1 THESSALONIANS Day 1 1 Thessalonians 1 1 Thessalonians 1:1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; 3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; 4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. 5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. 6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: 7 So that ye were ensamples to all who believe in Macedonia and Achaia. 8 For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak anything. 9 For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; 10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. How well do people know you? Do they know how much you care about them? Do they know you speak well about them and pray for them? Paul told the church at Thessalonica, he prayed for them and mentioned them everywhere he went because they were examples of faith in God and Jesus Christ. He showed them how the Holy Spirit worked in their lives and his to spread the gospel. As Christians, you are an example of faith in your Lord Jesus Christ. How you live shows the Holy Spirit at work in your life. People also know you pray for them because your actions and love for God and Jesus Christ is evident to everyone you meet. Jesus said you are to let your light shine so the world will know you belong to Him and give glory to the Father. Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (KJV) Do people know you’re a Christian? Let’s pray: Father, let my love for You be seen in everything I do and say. Help me pray for all those who belong to the body of Christ, edifying and lifting them up so they can do their work for You to the best of their ability. Bring to remembrance all those who need prayer, praying for the lost who don’t know You, and for those who do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
