Just won't stay going

I have a 1984 F150 4x4 Custom. It has a 351 with a 2 barrel carb. I let it sit for over two years, as I couldn't decide what to do with it. When I finally got to getting her going again, the gas was bad, the tank needed flushing. I also blew the lines, put a new fuel pump in and changed the fuel filter. I could get her going, but not keep it going. I finally got the carb kit and redid the acelerator pump , did the float, the needle. I soaked it out, checked all the flow through the injection ports (all good). I changed out the choke gasket as well. All the vacum hoses (3) are connected, I just can't figure it out. When I start the engine it is good for about as long as it takes to burn the fuel in the float resevior, then blah, she dies. I checked the flow from the pump and it is good and strong. It flows well through into the resevior (I di think the flow might not be there, but it floods in nicely). Has anyone else had a similar experience? Any help would be great. Thanks, Pete

Did you clean the fuel filter in the Carburetor?

Thanks, I changed the fuel filter that attachs to the carb, I am not aware of an internal fuel filter in the carb itself. I did also change the needle valve entirely, as well as soak the carb in new gas overnight.
