National Shrimp Day
1872 - Victoria Woodhull became the first woman nominated for President of the United States.
1908 - Mother's Day first celebrated in the United States.
1946 - Donovan (Donovan Philips Leitch) was born in Maryhill, Glasgow, Scotland. He's a Scottish singer/songwriter, guitarist, producer and actor. He blended folk, jazz, pop, psychedelia and world music. He's well known for 1965-Catch the Wind, 1966-Sunshine Superman, 1968-Hurdy Gurdy Man, and my favorite 1966-Mellow Yellow.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2014.
1955 - Mark David Chapman was born. He killed John Lennon on 12/8/80...a totally senseless murder.

I didn't even realize that there was a female nominee that long ago.
