Shortage of Helium

Since there is a global shortage of helium and it is not a renewable source; here in the US, there are only 3 states in which helium is extracted from natural gas mining and those will more than likely be shut down in 2021.
This would be a serious problem considering helium is used in MRI machines, airbags, LCD screens and other important research. The thought that people are upset about not being able to fill their balloons and a business called Party City will be shutting down is ridiculous.
What people fail to understand is that once balloons are released; regardless if it for birthday parties, funerals, weddings or anything else, sooner or later those balloons land in trees, lakes, rivers, etc., killing wild life.
Animals like cattle, goats, fish, birds; will accidentally eat the rubber of the balloon and it will kill them. So I'm sorry; boo-hoo-hoo if you can't buy balloons when the helium shortage might mean I or anyone else can't even get an MRI.

@nanette64 They should be forbidden for two reason, both for the helium and the for the plastic trash, so no idea.
And they're pointless and expensieve. I'm pretty sure most kids will be as happy by getting an ice-cream :-)

@Torunn I agree on the ice cream; that's for sure. It's the adults that are the ding-bats.

Why is it that it always takes forever for a law to be enacted @Torunn ? A disaster of some kind always has to be the initiator and by then, it's too late.

@nanette64 As smart as he is, I would not put that past him!
He was in medical school when his friend approached him with the business idea. Now he makes more than he ever could have as a doctor.

I'm with ya @amadeo . The only good thing about them is that they can spot something that another device can't.

I hadn't heard of the shortage. Hopefully someone can come up with a solution.

folks really make my head hurt, they seem to 'nsist they're entitled to all they desire with no thoughts'f consequence. i cringe e'ery time i hear 'f balloons 'f any sort bein' released. folks wonder why, particularly out here where there'd be no open waters. 's ya said, cattle, jack rabbits 'n others let curiosity get the best 'f 'em 'n such usually ends with a horrific demise.

And in today's world, people don't use any common sense about any action they take can carry consequences @crazyhorseladycx . Until of course the poop hits the fan.

And MRI's are a huge thing when it comes to finding physical problems @Sojourn . We're gonna find ourselves back in the 18th century if we don't stop the stupidity.
