The foot over bridge story (which was on repair) continues here

Earlier I wrote here about the foot over bridge, we used to cross the busy road, is on repair. It is still under repair but we have a ‘traffic signal’ at present there. The road was a signal free road for vehicles earlier. Now walkers can walk on getting the green signal to cross the road. There also they are doing injustice for pedestrians. We are getting only 20 seconds to cross the road, it is difficult to cover both side of the road and before we reach on the other side the green signal will be there for vehicles. Once the green light blown for vehicles then walkers have to wait for 170 seconds. So the ratio is 170:20, which is not fair at all. The flyover adjacent to this place will extend due to heavy traffic jam in the area. The area is merging with vehicles from three different directions so extending the flyover is the only way to reduce the rush. So this foot over bridge will be demolished for sure. I guess that will be the reason for not repairing the bridge. So the troubles will continue for us, don’t know how long.

The green light for us seems to run pretty fast too but the drivers do wait most of the time but you have to be wary of those who do not want to wait. 20 seconds is not fair at all I reckon.

If we run then only we can reach within 20 seconds. I am always looking on the counting board near the signal so I am accurate with this.

@Sreekala Its way too short and what about younger kiddies or older people they might not be able to run like that. So glad you can get across quickly.

Oh, that's terrible. Pedestrians should have more time to cross.

Yes, we have to run, and vehicles are impatiently waiting for the green signal, they won't mind people are still on road.

Yes, that is a problem for me everyday. Moreover, many drivers do not stop when their turn and like to cross the red signal so that way also we face problems.

Oh... I really wonder if it happens only in India or other countries too. We are also waiting for the flyover to be finished soon so that we can enjoy our shopping and all, currently I don't like to take out the car because its so traffic jam out there. And I don't have a 2 wheeler. I have to find the right timings when traffic won't be there, at least a little lesser. The road is never really clear because it's a highway. But yes the speed is good here.

You know, the flyover built there due to heavy traffic but there is no use. The merging of traffic makes much rush and all vehicles have to wait for long time. Too rush, I hate it, I get down before one stop on returning home so I can reach home early by walking. Delhi is filled with underpass, flyovers etc but day by day the traffic jam is increasing.

@ShifaLk Yes, that must be reason for the increased rush. Every one want to travel in their own vehicles. Here the metro is connecting all over at present, it is convenient too still people are willing to drive themselves. The government applied so many rules, odd and even number, no car day etc but no use.

That's unfair, of course. Is there's no timeline for the completion of the repair of the bridge?

The bridge won't be repaired, as the nearby fly over is going to extend so this over bridge will be demolished for sure.
