A funny, personal, scented opinion

Hi everyone, Did I get your attention yet? Awhile back I was at my parent's place - using the what shall I call it? WC, ladies room, restroom, the loo..... and I smelled a most pleasing smell. Mild flowers. No idea where it was coming from. Well it took a little while and I discovered that it was coming from the toilet paper. I didn't think that they even made that anymore. While the scent is nice, I disagree highly with adding lots of scents, or colors to one's toilet paper. Skin is sensitive and - really, if you are paying attention to keeping clean, chances are you smell just fine. Well, certain people at home cannot tolerate the scented toilet paper, so I took. I will use it up and no longer buy it. I wish the scent came in an air freshener or room spray, but I feel no need to rub it onto my private areas. Same thing with women's products and incase that wording was too vague I mean pads and tampons. Back in the day when I first started using these items - the packaging for items that were scented or plain were an entire *different color*. Now days it is hidden in the tiny print on the top or along the side of the package. And it doesn't say scented. It's vague wording like "odor control". I have found that when I buy the scented products - it leads to bladder infections for me. So I have resorted to actually opening a bit of the package and smelling before purchasing. Better than having a bladder infection. So there is your public service announcement for the day :-D We go to mom's oncologist today, so positive thoughts and prayers appreciated - thanks all! I agree. It makes no sense to put scented stuff on sensitive areas. Silly product designers. How did your appointment go? Good I hope.... Mom's went fine :-)

too colorful and strong scents are not good to our health. so it is better to use unscented products and not too colorful foods or things..

I agree with you. The colors in foods is a good point too. I would rather have them more natural looking

I think Angel Soft makes a Lavender scented toilet paper... I used to be a stock clerk (several years ago now) and I recall having to stock that. As an aside, I buy equate brand wipes. A few weeks ago I bought a cucumber and green tea type and well.. I had to stop using those. The shea butter ones are fine for me though.

Ah yes! That's what this was - store brand lavender scent. I hate when a certain product just won't work

As much as I love perfumes, I buy unscented personal products. I hope that everything went extremely well for your mom at her oncologist's visit.

@FayeHazel I'm so glad to hear the appointment went well for your mother. Good news, indeed!!!! The stuff we put into our bodies can kill us. We can't be too careful. Even Clorox Bleach makes me cough as does hot pepper seeds. Both happenings are rather new. I recently discovered it.

Very wise. It's a pity - this tp that Im using up smells actually quite nice. But no.... it should be in a body mist not in... the product that it's in. Thanks! The appointment went well :-)

@FayeHazel That is nice as long as you can smell it but when you used it up hopefully you can find more. That is very interesting. I never heard of nice smelling toilet paper.

I think that too much smell can affect intimate health. I hope the oncologist will say good news.

@Nevena83 Mmmm it's concerning. Though there are a few other things that can make that level go up, too.... and everything looks fine in scans - so that is more important

I think you're right. It doesn't seem good to put scent in those areas... ugh.... Thanks! It went well except for 1 blood level which was raised. :/

I get unscented everything if I can. I don't like a lot of scents (gives me a headache especially if it's overpowering). I remember when I was a kid, my mom would sometimes buy colored toilet paper - not like the ones in your photo, but pastels like pink, blue, maybe yellow. But then on the news they said something about the dyes being toxic, so we stopped buying them - maybe they got completely taken off the market.

@FayeHazel The scent is just another chemical. We don't need any more chemicals in the products we use !

I remember that pastel tp too :-) I think they stopped making it, which is why this scented stuff surprised me.

I guess the company that produces these things wanted to be competitive against their competitors.

The only scented things I use are dryer sheets (jasmine) and essential oils in my diffuser. Though I do like pine cleaning products, it just smells clean!!

I like some scented things, but I agree things smelly should be left for cleaners, diffusers etc. Pine cleaner is nice, but I'm allergic to (real) pine so I wondered if I am allergic to whatever is in the cleaners as well

Oh yes. It's creepy. The stuff is embedded with whatever the make the scent out of ... and you're putting there on sensitive areas.... makes no sense to me
