Buying a Secondhand Car

I plan to buy a secondhand van for our family service. We're going to use it to transport us when we go to the Church every Sunday, in going out for family outing or out-of-town shopping, in fetching our son and his wife who are working in the Capital City every weekend, and in attending some social activities that need our presence. Thus, we need a vehicle is to travel.
Do you have any suggestions to make? What are your good tips, for this is the first that we could have a car for my family?

My choice of car is made by my husband. I just list down my conditions and he selects one for me. I don't explore much into market and feedbacks as they don't interest me.
But for sure a second hand car should be in good condition and well maintained. Moreover it should be budget friendly.

That's right. I prefer a secondhand van for it's budget friendly. I have enough for that.

Do you like Chevy's? I think used cars when they are in good condition and are kept up nicely. I love Chevy cars.

@Nakitakona You should see how I researched like mad in order to get my current car. I did the same when we needed to buy our last two cars. We have to beat those who would love to sell us lemon cars.

if its for a family, its better you buy a van. its bigger..

Well I know nothing about cars. If I were you, I would definitely buy a car brand that I like most. When buying it take the car to a mechanic for an in-depth checking up, and if it all is good, get the car home! Good luck with that!

Only buying cars (secondhand ones) in the past, so don't know if the same rule applied, but for cars, be careful of any car passing the 10yr mark (since engines and all sort of trouble begins to appear after that). There are some members here who know lots about vehicles, let see if they can help you better in this regards. (If you have a good friend or good relatives who knows about van, ask them to help van hunting for you.)

As far as specifications and other motor related suggestions,I may not be able to advice, since I am not best at it.
Just, decide from family's point of you, do take everyone's opinion before investing.
