What Has Happened to San Francisco,. CA?

San Francisco used to be considered one of the last truly unique cities in the United States. Great venues for experiencing arts, entertainment, cultural events and cultures. Amazing food, beautiful and awe inspiring sights, interesting history were all waiting anyone who cared to visit or live there.
But it stinks to high heaven. Local laws are so restrictive and ridiculous people can't really comply with them. You can literally be fined for not picking up your dog's poop off the sidewalk, but you have every right to leave your own poop anywhere.
They have even started hiring people, paying over $180,000 a year to clean human poop off the sidewalks and streets.
What happened to San Francisco? Many cities are euphemistically called "cesspools", San Francisco has actually become one.

Nope it isn't under good government. It's a cesspool of corruption.

I have never been but I know it is a lovely city this is very sad to hear. Sure hope things can be turned around before the city really gets dirty. They ask the question why the city is so dirty on the question and answer site Quora

If it's considered a "right" to poop on the sidewalk, it's too late, the city is dirty.

I am afraid Frisco is now too far gone. It was dirty the last time I was there in 2010.

i guess that's what happens when rent gets so impossible there's a ton of homeless.our capital city was caught shipping "encorageables" down here as we're supposedly richer (big city propaganda lie)..long story short the main drag suddenly started reeking of pee.of course the one funny thing was that area is right near city hall..who deserves to smell pee all day.

I visited San Francisco around 20 years ago and it was beautiful. But cities change.

The reason? A gone too far liberal government. Ban straws but who cares about used needles littering the sidewalks.

It has its issues and the cost of living there is astronomical!, but it has so many recognized places, Fisherman’s Wharf, The Golden Gatr Bridge, the beaches and the bay!
