19 Songs From 1979: Heart of Glass (#9)

I guess I’ll be in trouble with today’s entry from the countdown of favorites from 40 years ago. Why? Because it’s “only” #9 on the countdown. Sorry, John. I know yesterday’s and today’s would probably be 2-1 on your list....which you can write up if you want to (hint hint). So, to everyone’s delight, here’s today’s tune. #9: Heart of Glass - Blondie The perfect song at the perfect time. All those people yowza-yowza-yowzaing in 1979 could dance their butts off to this, while the punks and new wavers were cheering the fact that one of the stars from CBGB’s made it to the top of the charts! I’m sure that people who bought the album for this song, thinking it was just another d*sco album, got a shock with songs like “One Way or Another.” They were still probably very entertained by one of the great albums of 1979 from one of the great alums of the CBGB’s days. i never thought of it as disco..but i suppose technically it is. it's right on the edge.
