If you're not going to give a project or a goal in your life every effort, then why bother? You may fail; but that's not the worst thing. I'll answer this with two more quotes from Thomas Edison:
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that will not work."
"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to succeed when they gave up."

You don't get 10,000 failed attempts at parachute jumping - I'm with W C Fields who said, "If at first you don't succeed, give up. There's no point in being a damned fool about it."
