This morning while pursing through the newest images on Pixabay I came across this image. I paused for a moment and then went on to the others. I be darn if I didn't find myself with the image stuck in my head. I began thinking about this little old fashioned setting and started to image the story behind it. I thought to myself, what an interesting little setting for a Victorian story. The candlestick, books, and small glass of … possibly sherry placed me back in time. I imagined the beginning of a mystery. I am not quite sure why but to me it was the perfect setting for a Sherlock Holmes type mystery. The dark house, the collectable books, and of course the drink. Do you ever look at a picture and start a story in your mind? What does this image tell you?

Oh if I understand perfectly, I am one of those people that anything stimulates my imagination and puts me flying, I immediately felt the same when I saw this image, do you know what it stimulates? The smell at that moment. how would it be? would it be to books and candles?

I think we react with our imagination. For me a picture truly does write a story.

@HazySue yes, something very victorian right? It is very enveloping, who would say that at that time people would think that in many years later, this painting would become a memory of yesteryear

I often start with an image and then write a poem about it--visuals are so evocative! This one in particular!

@HazySue often --yes! especially during national poetry month--you write a poem each day for the month of April and post wherever you have access--pictures are a great inspiration

Our minds are a wonderous things. All we have to do is let them be free to take up to different times and places.

I love this painting. I think that this house has a secret laboratory where an old man carries on experiments.

Yes, I imagine those things too. And I sometimes imagine myself living in the Victorian era. Oh how I wish.

I often think how wonderful it would be to live way back when. Then I remember the fact that baths and showers are few and far between.

I see a story in almost every picture. I always have. I believe you do also, when you have time to look.

I like that photo. It tells me about an old time when there was no electricity, yet. It reminds me of the time of Jane Eyre.

What a nice image indeed. For me, this reminds me of a haunting mystery or a time-machine storyline.
