My Regular Student Response About Their Substitute Teacher

I wasn't able to attend my 3 regular students because of the heavy rain and don't have access to the internet, because of that my 3 regular students been subbed by another teacher. Once my internet was fixed I checked their lessons and I found out that it didn't go well. There's a transcript regarding the class and I'm not sure if I'll feel sad for the teacher or I'll laugh on how my student responds to the teacher. On the next day, I was able to have a class with them and they told a lot of things about the sub teacher and I'm not sure if I'll laugh or feel bad because they said that the subbed teacher isn't good, I asked them how? or in what way? They said that the substitute teacher taught them so slow and doesn't know how to interact with them. I just told them that even if I'm not your teacher, you should respect them too and they started comparing me to that teacher, I'm not sure if I'll feel flattered or what since they found me better than the other teacher, but I feel sad about the substitute teacher who handles them. I felt his frustration with my regular students. How about you? Have you ever been a substitute for a job? How do you handle it?

Sometimes it is hard for the students to adjust to new teachers and vice versa. Those substitute teachers do not have any idea of who are they teaching and what will they teach because it will be given to them on the first 3 minutes the assigned teacher is not there.

You're right, but I advised that I'm not able to attend class 2hours before the class, and they been distributed to their substitute teacher after I notified them, but being a sub teacher isn't an easy job than having a regular students

@tech40 those substitute teachers also have their classes, they only just have a specific time to teach on substitute. So there is a possibility that your class has not been given to a sub teacher because they will not know who is open that time and also the sub teacher might have classes too that they cannot check

@rakski I'm also part of a sub teacher and I usually get a notification through my phone and application about the time of the class, and they're not going to assign it to you 3 minutes before the time. The minimum is 30 minutes before the class. There are even times that your subclass slots will be filled up even it's 5 hours earlier or 10 hours earlier.

May be children like you and used with your style of teaching. The other teacher may not get the same flow.

Yes, many times when I was still working in the office. For instance, it’s my off and one team mate is absent, I will take her/him slot. Too bad.

I see, sometimes it's too hard to become a substitute specially if you don't know what are you going to do, or what are the tasks of that person who you substituted

Yeah, that's right even if I'm not their teacher, they should respect other teachers too. If I'm not the teacher doesn't mean that they'll not respect them

No. Well students really do that, one good quality teachers should have is that they should be conversational, know the things they say and must have strong conviction on what they say

You got it right! I totally agree with you! You should talk a lot to keep your student's attention and to have a happy class. Keeping your class happy, and enjoyable is one of the best things to keep your students happy (One of my students is kept on yawing on his class and the teacher keeps on saying "You can go to sleep now." even the class isn't yet finished)

@JasminRuru I'm not sure about it, but it seems that the teacher isn't granny, it just happened that his or her teaching style is so very slow, and my student said that they're not able to finish the class because of it
