'Not Being Told to Do So'

A statement that has molded me to be a better man and led me to my success in life. This is the forerunner of why I am today. This is initiative I am holding on whatever the situations or occasions and wherever I am be at home, school, office or anywhere. This is one of the comments in my report card by my grade 1 teacher. She wrote, "working without being told to do so." I read it several times but I couldn't get it. I couldn't understand it. That's 53 years ago. I do still remember it. There is one occasion that my late grade 1 teacher tapped me on my head gently and praised me for my initiative of doing things inside the classroom, which my classmates failed to work on it unless they're commanded to do so. "Initiave is doing the right thing without being told." Initiative has given the sincere appreciation from my friends, co-workers, supervisors, my parents and from any person in the community where I live in. I am so thanful that I do have attribute or desire that leads me to the success I have had and a kind of person of what I am today. I know you may have this too. It is within you unless you use it. Nurture it and you make the world orderly and free from chaos. Happy day my friends. image credits to the owner (ctto)

Very good I actually do the same but most of the people don't like me for that because I am so honest :(

That's not good. They should have to appreciate you for that.

That is great praise from your first-grade teacher. It says a lot about you as a person. I confess I needed prodding at that age. Now, I'm a go-getter.

I didn't understand it before, but I could feel that. It's about my work attitude of doing things right without being commanded to what to do. I sense it before hand.

Taking the initiative really is a good skill to develop. Too many people mistake it for simply doing what you want to do. The key is doing what is right, or what needs to be done. A lot of people never understand the difference, so they are always trying to blame others for their bad decisions.

Initiative comes from willingness, it does not trigger everyone's mind or objectives. I guess. Good initiators are most likely to take initiative steps for every causes, for the benefit of every other person and does not care whether people follow them or not.

You're right and it is being triggered by common sense. If the person is not using his common sense, he may not be willing to do good things.

That was kind gesture from your side when you were a school child. I hope you will have the same quality with you still.
