Going home the long way

I’m on a train heading where I’m intending to go.
Unfortunately, this was not the case before I changed trains.
I am supposed to go one stop an then transfer. Instead, I started reading and by the time I realized the station name is not one I usually hear on my way home, I was halfway across Tokyo. Fortunately I know the train system and it wasn’t hard to get back on track, though I wasted money transferring. It was pure absent-mindedness because I go the same place every Sunday.
What absent-minded thing have you done recently?

I sometimes purposely stop a few stops ahead so I could walk back home on the winding road. It's good exercise, and I get to breathe fresh air too..

I've had construction workers leave stuff at my house, such as tools.

My roommate in college put in salt instead of sugar for donuts once.

Something similar, I was over the call, I got on the wrong metro which took me on the other side of my actual location.
It took me almost 2 hours, which was suppose to be completed in 30 minutes

i spent a fortune on a cab because i was avoiding riding the bus. somehow, i've forgotten that we have a light rail transit. partly it's also because i seldom go that way now and didn't realize how outrageous traffic has become.

I don't generally have to take cabs because I live in an area that has buses, trains and the stations are not too far from anywhere. Maybe a 15-20 minute walk will get you to a train station or bus stop.
