I remember being taught years ago how to meditate. I learned in an Abnormal Personality class in college. I didn't really get the hang of it. At that time I felt it was a waste of time. Now that I think back I wish I had listened more closely. I think it might have helped lessen my stress. You never know. I have however learned how to sit quietly, close my eyes and stop my mind from racing so. I would guess it is a form of meditation. Did you ever learn how to meditate?

The way I meditate is by taking time to delve more deeply into a question, a problem or an issue. If I'm stressed then I may listen to some music, go for a walk, dance, exercise or watch a good movie.

@db20747 I usually use prayer and the Bible in my meditation. My delving leads to a solution which will get rid of the cause of stress. Maybe not everybody does it the same way?

No, I've never learned meditation. Though, prayer probably comes close. The Bible talks about meditating on the Word of God, and I certainly do that.

I think we are talking about basically the same thing, in a way. If it brings you peace it is good.

Some people do seem to thrive on stress. I just want it to go away.

Wonderful, I could never understand why the professor tried to teach us how to meditate. I do now.

@HazySue I think it is a personal thing. We should all do what works for us.

I do try to meditate. Yet I do not follow any formal approach. I just try to do in my own way.

I think that is the best way. Everyone is different so I would think everybody responds to different ways to meditate.

Anyone who knows me well knows that meditation is not exactly in my vocabulary . My gears are always running - which is maybe why I don't sleep through most nights. I did find that when I did certain physical activities (like figure skating or dance), I could actually "let go" for the moment.

I am trying more and more to find little pieces of time to zone out. I am lucky to be able to find those little periods of time.
