how long do we have to wait to process pension payment?

My father has reached his retirement age months ago and we are planning to make him stop working. The problem is I'm still studying, they didn't want me to stop for a year or so and just want me to focus on my studies. We have no other source of income but his monthly income. I've heard that it's gonna take a while to get the pension. If you are a retired, how long did you wait for your pension to start paying?

I am a retired national government employee. I preferred to avail of automatic pension. It took me one month to get paid for my monthly pension. But if the employee opts to take 5 year lump sum benefits, he will have to wait for several months for the release and wait 5 years to receive his monthly pension.
