Yesterday I had to drive through a terrible storm with tornados in the area to pick my mother up from the hospital. The hospital and I have been trying to reach my brother with whom my mom has been staying but we could not get in touch with him. His cell phone is dead and the house phone where they were staying is out of order.
We finally coordinated enough to get her referrals in order and all follow-up appointments made. I told the nurse she would not make ANY appointments unless they were already made and told she HAS to go to them. Done.
My mom wanted to stay with my brother because she thought she would get back into her house sooner. However, they are staying in a camp on the river and there is flooding there so I couldn't get her there and my brother could not come and get her.
We finally got to talk to him last night and he agreed that this is the best place for her right now.
Just wanted to get a post in to let everyone know why I am not online very much. I hope to be able to get on some notifications tonight and read some new discussions. I am off to the doctor's office to get my fasting bloodwork done. It's almost noon so I am going to want some food and something to drink soon.
Have a good day everyone.

So your mother is staying with you for the time being? Yes, she needs to be somewhere that she can get medical attention sooner, being in a flooded area isn't good.
I hope you have a good rest of your day.

Yes, she is. So far we are staying busy, which is good for her and tiring for both of us. She was staying at some friend's camp while they are re-doing her house from the flood in 2016, but the rivers around her are all cresting above flood level.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It's usually an hour and a half to two hours depending on where in town the doctor is. Yes, I'm very tired.

@kareng Are you having to drive a long way to her appointments? Atleast you are both keeping busy, tiring can be good sometimes.

Oh no, some friends loaned their camp to her while they were working on her house. It's a very high-end camp on the river. The only problem is all the steps getting up to it. That was another reason I brought her home with me. I only have 3 steps up to the porch.

Looks like you have your hands full looking after your mother. Driving with tornados buzzing all around must be really frightening?

@1hopefulman I usually don't drive in weather like that, but I didn't have much of a choice in this situation.

@kareng I have been in a few storms like that in my life and it was a miracle I survived.

I do hope that your Brother and his home is not effected by the flooding and I also hope that your mother is ok.

It is actually a friend's camp that my brother and mother were staying at while my mother's house gets fixed. It won't flood, just water is up and phone lines are not working. Water also goes over the road where you can't get in and out so Mom will be staying with me for a while.
