Lost chance to swim

Philippines
June 8, 2019 2:14am CST
Back when we were boy-scouts, there was a jamboree camp we went to. We had tents to sleep and done some activities. But if there's one thing I regret was not to swim. We had this swimming lesson and the first instruction we had was to hold our knees and legs, turns ourselves into a ball long enough to be a ball to float. Sadly, I didn't do that, I was too afraid I might drown , my feet was still on the floor.Minutes later they all started to swim. I had issues with my ears then. Do you think it's too late for me to learn? I'm happy for me nephews and niece though, they have learned it with ease. Have a nice day

I still have issues with water and my ears. Tried scuba diving once and supposed to pop your ears so ear drums do not explode, Just felt off my eardrums about to explode any way. Maybe I was being a baby. The instructors seemed to have more issues with the way I swam. Re taught me how to swim and then go here is your license. I did the hard part fine. They sit you in this darkest water and its pretty damn scary. You have to calm yourself down. Tell your self to breath and pray there is no sharks. That is what got me, not the darkness the fact that something could be hunting me and not going to be able to see it. You really want to learn try that route, very scary but very fun.

Hello @crossbones27 I would have left and not come back if they give me that kind of training on the waters. I don't think i could hold my breathe some how.

If you are brave now then you can have a try. I learnt the same in younger years, about 5. My brother helped me to learn it by providing the banana stems to hold on. When flood time the paddy places gets filled with water and we don't want to scare anything there.

Take it easy and see if your ears are okay and just splash and have fun in the water all you can. Don´t let it get to you if you can´t take your feet off the floor right away I was also a one legged frog for ages and then I found my fins.

Nothing like that at all, nobody is old enough to learn anything. Keep motivating yourself.... you will surely learn...

Hello @Aansh13 I guess so, but I wonder when that time will come. Mom had been invited swimming more than once this month.

No, it is not to late to learn to swim but if you have done the holding your knees in your chest, you will actually float. That is the first thing the coach did in the swimming class of my daughter
