Oh, my aching feet. We played two tournaments today. I finished in the money in both, although I didn’t win either. The winners shot lights out in both divisions in both tournaments! We hope to dodge the forecasted rain tomorrow to get the tournament in. Meanwhile, as I count my pennies here’s another one of my favorite songs with “radio” in the title. No surprise this guy’s showing up on the list, either. #5: Pirate Radio - John Hiatt Earlier in the countdown I said there would be other songs about the “X,” or very high-powered radio stations from Mexico that would broadcast music that U.S. stations wouldn’t touch. Well, here’s that theme again! Hearing John Hiatt sing the praises of radio is a little funny, given that he’s never had a hit himself. Of course, as I point out every time I mention him, he’s written a lot of hits...and, to that end, I suppose that would make him grateful. Here Hiatt sings the joys of the X and the more modern “pirate radio” stations (that were located on platforms just outside of U.S. territorial waters) that introduce people to things they can’t hear anywhere else. Although John Hiatt is one of my favorites (my favorite living rock songwriter, in fact), the album this came from (Little Head) is among my least favorite albums of his. But this song alone makes it worth having. Pirate Radio Written by John Hiatt Recorded by John Hiatt From Little Head, 1997 Selling tennis shoes and beer:
From the Rockpalast at Lorelei concert in '97(Germany) with the Nashville Queens

Not a Hiatt album I’d recommend, but this song is great.

@FourWalls My favorite radio song is "Turn Your Radio On." I learned it singing in a Sacred Harp group. I'll see if I can find a recording.

@TheHorse — oh, I know that. Have it by Roy Acuff, and Ray Stevens had a hit with it in the early 70s.
