Addicted to Mangoes

Mangoes are pretty common here in the Philippines. In fact they are here all year round. And like many of the people here, I can't get enough of mangoes. I like them ripe and yellow, though I have a particular weakness to green and unripe ones. By the way, green mangoes are served with shrimp paste, which people might found to be nasty.

Now that you mentioned it, I will buy a kilo of ripe mangoes, and probably make a shake.

Mangoes are my favorite, Kabayan. It's almost 3 days that I eat mango for my dessert after supper.

I also like green mangoes served as salad. Just last week kabayan, we have a "budol fight", where we shred green mangoes and mixed it with tomatoes and onions.

I just received about a dozen big Indian mangoes this morning from our neighbor and my wife and I don't usually eat Indain mangoes so I'll be bringing the mangoes this afternoon when I'll be going to a meeting at our cooperative's office and give them to the staff. I'm sure they'll like it. Girls are fond of mangoes :)

Actually, there's an oversupply of mangoes in the Philippins now because of the long hot summer which is very conducive to mangoe fruit bearing.

@sunrisefan, so true summer helps mangoes to bear many fruits, best luck of the farmers.

oh I am green with envy. Here in Korea, a piece of green mango costs around 6-8 usd in the Asian Market.

8 dollars, that's as expensive as a branded pocket knife! I never imagine our mango could cost that much.

How do you make pickled mangoes? In our place, we pickle green mangoes in brine, and I love them.
