My school has three levels: elementary (K-5), middle (6-8) and high (9-12). Our second graduation in a list of three is the eighth grade graduation. Students do not wear caps and gowns, but it is traditional that they dress up beautifully. Many will wear a traditional national outfit (some Japanese girls wear kimono, some Koreans wear hanbok, etc.) so it is a very colorful night! The boys usually wear white shirt and tie with a full suit, and get flowers for their lapels. Girls sometimes get a flower bracelet to wear. It is a very exciting evening! Not only do they receive certificates of completion, but also awards for their best classes, sports, music ensembles, and so on.
I don't remember my middle school even having a graduation. All I remember is that we had a kindergarten graduation (I played triangle in the rhythm band) and high school graduation! And college, of course. I was already gone to Japan when my graduate school graduation happened so I got my diploma in the mail.
Do you remember having middle school graduation or just high school? Did you ever dress up for middle school events? I don't think I did.

Congrats! You're a part and parcel of the success of the school children. You've done a good job.
