Do you feel sleepy around 1-3pm?

I really do, especially around 2:00 pm. I have to fight the feeling and keep doing whatever I am currently working on. And sometimes, I fail. I take a quick nap, just about 15-30 mins. But I notice as the time gets closer to 3:00 pm, my drowsiness dissipates. Even when I did not take a nap, it feels like I just did. It's like I've been half asleep from 1-3 pm and completely awoke after 3 pm. The bad thing about this is that I can't focus on a task during those times, especially when I am listening to a speaker's lecture during my review program. Have you ever felt sleepy during these times as well? Do you have any tips on what I should do to avoid feeling that way? Maybe it could help me focus during my review and work.

Do you eat white rice in lunch? If you do then that could be the source of the problem.

@ichipink Carbohydrate containing foods such as rice boost the production of a neurotransmitter known as serotonin which can boost our mood but also make us feel content and possibly sleepy.

@Sojourn So that is why I feel sleepy. I guess I should avoid stuff with carbos at lunch. But isn't carbos needed to help boost energy when working?

When did you start not feeling sleepy at that time? Or did you do something which cured your sleepiness?

I will say yes. Thus, I always have a slip at this period of time.

I take a quick nap too, but not always. I sometimes even end up sleeping for a couple of hours. How long do you sleep at that time?

@Shavkat I see. Your work is in the evening that is why your sleeping time is a bit different. I envy you, being able to teach online. I wanted to experience that too.

@JustBhem The first thing I tried was eating less rice during lunch. Then eating some sweets when I am feeling sleepy. It did work for me. I don't have to force myself to stay awake during those hours of the day. I also sleep earlier the night before.

I feel sleepy at 12 noon. These days sleep is disturbed during night due to severe hot. That is why I felt sleepy at this time.

Hmmm... Come to think about it, I often have sleepless nights as well. Maybe that could also be the reason I feel sleepy after lunch. I think I'll try to sleep earlier tonight. It is also hot in our place. Thank goodness the rainy season is starting already. But I can't ride my bike anymore *sigh*.

Absolutely. It may not happen every day. But quite often I will get a little sleepy around that time. Sometimes, I will need to close my eyes for a little bit.

@Hannihar I see. I have noticed that too. When I take long naps in the afternoon, I stay awake longer at night. But quick naps in the afternoon doesn't have that effect.

@Aansh13 Coffee makes me sleepy too. I think I'll try the tea. But I can't move around because everybody's attention is on the speaker. It would be disrespectful if I move from my seat. Thanks for the advice.
