During our high school days, my male classmates used to sing this song, "Those Were the Days" as we spent our vacant period under the shady tree near our room for the next class. Mary Hopkin popularized this song in 1968. The introduction lyrics described to us the meeting place of the these friends and what they're doing, to wit: Once upon a time there was a tavern Where we used to raise a glass or two Remember how we laughed away the hours And dreamed of all the great things we would do And the lively chorus which we are really alive when we sang this: Those were the days my friend We thought they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day We'd live the life we choose We'd fight and never lose Those were the days, oh yes those were the days La la la la... "Those Were the Days" is a Russian song composed by Boris Fomin and Gene Raskin wrote the English lyrics.

I don't really remember it on the radio. But, I do remember it on the show All in the Family.

Well, at least a song with the same title. Obviously, it's not quite the same song.

@srhelmer Absolutely. There are songs with the same title but the music is not the same.
