Do I Look Like I Was Born Yesterday?

Last night I was sitting in the lobby of my apartment building waiting for a friend to pick something up from me. Along came two young women, and they started waving at me and pounding on the door, claiming they were locked out. Sounds pretty plausible, eh? I suppose so, but with my vision I had no way of recognizing them, ergo, I did not actually know they lived in the building. They claimed Management, which they called by name, was unreachable. Thing is, the name of the management was scrawled across the sign in front of the building, so anyone could have come of the street and said whatshisname couldn't be reached. What's more, in a building where I once lived, women were often used as decoys in order for others to shove their way into the building. While the unsuspecting dupe lets the poor woman into the building, some dude shoves them both out of the way and gains entry. This ALMOST happened to me once, but I managed to fight the guy off.
As for the friend I was meeting, for me she was very identifiable, even with my vision. Gotta love cool people with wild coloured hair, and a million tattoos. I'd recognize her anywhere. Her husband is equally recognizable to me, for similar reasons.
My husband is an old combat vet, and totally gets my total lack of trust in people It only takes ONCE!
Someone asked me what would happen if I were on the other side of the door, what I'd do if I'd lost my keys. I have lost my keys before, and I stayed in a motel that night. Believe me, I never EVER lost track of my keys again.
In this day and age, I'd much rather be safe than sorry. With my vision, and the fact that I can't run either, I am EXTRA careful.
Though I live in a better building than the one in which I was nearly attacked, and where I lost my keys, I'm still not taking any chances. Even here I have encountered questionable people in the lobby. There is one dude who hangs around here, and tries to gain entry to the building by yelling at a woman he claims is his mother, though the intercom. If I ever yelled at my mother like that, i would not be alive to complain tomorrow.
What would you do? Trust the women, or stay safe behind that locked door, at all costs?

If I didn't know them, they would stay on the other side of the door.
There is a secure building where I often work and have seen people open the door or buzz people in that they have no clue to their identity. The security measures were put in place to keep people safe. The residents have been spoken to time and again about buzzing people in without checking who it is first, or opening the door and letting people in.
I let them know they should always ask who it is before they buzz me in. They never do. I am usually scheduled to arrive at the same time on certain days and they just assume it is me. Not a good thing to do.
