(LPs) 1942 - Paul McCartney was born. He's an English singer, songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist. He's most famous for singing with the Beatles, the most popular and influential group in the history of popular music. He has written or co-written 32 songs that have reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. He is one of the most successful composers and performers of all time. In 1970 he pursued a solo career and formed Wings with wife, Linda, and Denny Laine. More than 2,100 artists have covered McCartney's Beatle song "Yesterday". He's been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice -- once with the Beatles and once as a solo artist.. He has been knighted.
