Exercising with garden tools...

That's what I have done this morning. A good three hours have been spent in garden and now I am drenched in sweat. Husband wanted to go a little late to office and so he offered to drop daughter to school on the way. That saves me almost an hour. So soon after cooking and packing, I got into garden. Luckily it's cloudy and pleasant. I missed my morning exercise but I feel all my muscles have been exercised using those gardening tools. I don't remember when was the last time I used them. My gardener has not come since a week. His kin has passed away and he is at his native. It might take him till mid July to be back. He has to settle some legal issues there regarding property. Last evening while watering the pots, I could sense that my garden needs some personal care which I have not done in few months. In fact I didn't even supervise the gardener's working in last few months. My roses were not giving a good result this time. There were hardly any healthy blooms. They needed trimming. The green patches of spinach, corriander and radish called for harvesting. And I even put some new seeds for the same. So after three hours of trimming, harvesting, digging and cleaning up, I am drenched in sweat. A sense of accomplishment is overpowering me. Now I sit with my coffee to relax. Soon I will head to bath. The picture is of few pots of roses that have been well pampered. Hope they show some good blooms in coming days. What has been keeping you busy?

I can make out from your posts. You are so passionate about your garden and your pets. I used to be regular and even supervise my gardener. But now a days most of the days in evening I have to take my younger one for her music lessons. She has enrolled for her first exam coming next April and teacher wants her to be there thrice a week. Rest of the days, elder one keeps me occupied with help in few subjects like Hindi, Chemistry and Bio. I find no free evenings any more. And the little time I get I want to enjoy..read or mylot. But now I have decided to do it at least supervise him.

@arunima25 I gave up my lucrative 9 to 5 job and started business designing and executing landscaped gardens. for a few years until we settled down here in this semi rural town. Here land was cheap and so were able to buy it and that is how Solitaire was born. I converted my passion into business.

@allknowing You are really blessed to have done that. That is the best thing to do a business out of passion.

@arunima25 Sounds like your garden was calling you and that you got a lot of exercise. Are you going somewhere that you were packing?

You seem to have lovely terrace garden. Yes, you are right that regular watering, upkeep and incandescent of potted plants is required, else they don't bloom in the right way. It is not an easy task, specially when we depend upon the gardener. I can understand that you would have toiled hard to set it right.

@arunima25 It means that as of now your hands are full and every minute is precious for you. You need to maintain balance between your hobbies (read gardening) and your kids and their requirements.

Thank you. I used to be so regular with my gardening despite of a gardener. But off late I get too busy. Actually younger one has got enrolled for her Music exam in coming April. Her teacher has started calling her more frequently and I am the one to take her. That's taking away most of my free evenings. And then both need some or the other help with their studies. So I need to keep myself free for that. I have to finish all my work before they come back from school. I need at least two hours for my offline and online job. That makes me feel good.

You are so right. But having so many things to do, I have outsourced a few to helps. But definitely I am going to do it personally at times and also make sure to supervise every now and then.

Yes plants are like babies and they really need that good care and love. I used to do that myself for years.Though I should not give an excuse , off late I was too busy with other things and they got ignored. Your wife is doing a good job. She seems to be passionate about gardening.
