The Wilson McConnell House has been part of this community since around 1879, the lot had once held a meat market. Space 2 housed a shoe shop, sharing the space with Truelson’s jewelry shop. Wilson moved to the brick building, the lot was then sold to the miners and then mined out. In 1876, the current house was started and completed in 1878, at its current location. Mrs Wilson and her family lived there until the 1930’s! In the 1930’s Richard Hudson Bell bought the house from the Wilson sisters. On November 30.1939 Richard dies from a bursted appendix. In the 1940’s the house is sold by Mrs Glady’s Belle Beane to Lepape. In the 1940’s once again the house is sold this time to the McConnell boys. 1940-1941 the house goes through restoration! 1952 the house is used in High Noon staring Grace Kelly and Gary Cooper! In 2005 the state purchases the house from the McConnell’s!
