Wisdom can't be imparted....

These are the few lines from the book I am reading for the third time...
This is also my favourite...
"Wisdom cannot be imparted.
Wisdom that a wise man attempts to impart always sounds like foolishness to someone else ... Knowledge can be communicated, but not wisdom. One can find it, live it, do wonders through it, but one cannot communicate and teach it."- Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse...
Everytime I come across this line, I always wonder how true this is. We actually can't impart wisdom.
Don't you think the same...???

Why? Let's take to the definition of wisdom. It is "the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise." It is of what a person is of what he has.

Absolutely....
And I think that will be a very person dependent...
As in if I have a certain things to share with my children with respect to my experience, I will tell them... But will it make them wise as well.... Basically it's the choice...

Yes... I was trying to say the same thing....
Wisdom is something that needs to developed by people on their own....

@Aansh13 But the wisdom you gained can't be imparted to them. They have to develop or have their own wisdom.

We might be able to impart it to those who want to become wiser and searching for it? What do you think?

@Aansh13 True but there are some things which work for all and are good for all such as saving some money for a rainy day instead of spending more than we earn.

I agree to it fully. Some of the wise people I have come across are actually illiterate.
I am going to make a note to read this book.

I wonder if what is the difference of knowledge from wisdom?

@Aansh13 I've remember a line from a TV program here that "our generation today knows a lot but understand so little." I think from that line I can see a difference. I always prefer wisdom... Something that can only be read in the book of life...

Read Siddhartha in 2007, one of the many books I had to write a review on then, I cannot remember the entire story but it was about the journey of a man in search of his self, wasn't it. He found the OHM, if I recall right.
However, I do believe wisdom can be imparted. Wisdom is a gift of the Holy Spirit. A person who has this gift is able to love unconditionally.
