What do you consider to be self esteem?

For me, self esteem is unconditional self acceptance, unconditional other acceptance and unconditional life acceptance. I fully accept myself with all my faults included. I accept everyone as humans who can make mistakes too but I don't like their particular deeds and I don't accept to be mistreated by their deeds. I accept life with all the challenges it posts and I strive hard to overcome them and accept it when I fail.

There is self esteem and self respect and while they are similar, there are difference. I think that I have a high self respect and do not let someone take advantage of me or mistreat me, I don't care what others think so long as I respect myself and values. Self esteem I think is a little trickier as your mind might think you are not really worthy of something or you are not quite good at something.. and it's a little different.. my self esteem is not as high in that regards. But I push through them. because I still don't care what others think.. I have to live with myself first.

Very true. It is just the failures which I hate the most.

Self esteem is believing in one's own abilities. Self esteem presupposes knowing one's constitution and having the confidence to execute things precisely because of this capability. Ergo, self esteem is also self respect. No one can take self esteem from you.
