I like them when my tummy is iffy. I had them often ate then with my 3rd baby when I was pregnant. I like them fresh and warm the best.

@ShyBear88 So you make your own then. I've always relied on the store bought stuff. We are so busy we rarely will take the time to bake something.

@cperry2 some times I don’t says bake. I do more often now I’m a stay a home parent and I have a little guy with a lot of food allergies

I eat them fresh when they are warm so it keeps them soft!

In England, these are known as Ginger Nuts, Ginger Biscuits or, occasionally, Cornish Fairings. Ginger Fairings have been sold at fairs all over the country since at least the 12th Century, so I think that this kind of biscuit is probably of English origin, though similar things are made in many other countries as well. We call them 'biscuits', by the way, because they were traditionally baked twice - once at the top of the oven and then again at the cooler bottom of the oven. I have to say that, even though we still call them biscuits, most of what you call 'cookies' are only baked once. But then, so are what you call 'biscuits' over there (which we'd call scones and eat with jam and cream rather than 'gravy'!)
Gingerbread is much softer than these hard Gingersnaps. In England it's more like a fairly dense, dark cake made with flour, dark treacle, muscovado sugar and ginger (of course). In Germany, it's much more like a soft, flat cookie and is usually made in various shapes, such as men, women, birds and so on.

Thanks for sharing. When I eat them I make fresh and es three when warm I’m not that big on hard cookies.
