Made in the USA Day I Forgot Day 1962 - The first Walmart, then known as Wal-Mart opens for business in Rogers, Arkansas. 2001 - The AbioCor self-contained artificial heart is first implanted. 1961 - Ernest Hemingway takes his own life. He was an American novelist, short story writer, journalist and Nobel Prize laureate that was born in 1899. His most famous books: Sun Also Rises, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Old Man and the Sea. 1993 - Fred Gwynne passes away. He was an American actor that was born in 1926.
