Where Next?

I've posted a number of discussions over the past few days about my long weekend jaunt to western Tennessee. I visited four states: Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. So where next? I'm hoping to go west, young man! Most of the states I haven't been to yet are out west. I don't know if I'll get there anytime soon, but one of the places on my list to get to is Coffeyville, Kansas. On October 5, 1892, the Dalton gang tried to rob two banks at the same time in the town of Coffeyville. Most members of the gang were killed in a shootout with the law and armed citizens. Only Emmett Dalton survived (although newspaper reports at the time declared he was "fatally wounded" and "would probably die"), serving 17 years before being paroled. He died in 1937 in Los Angeles. The Dalton gang's demise was the subject of the opening song on the classic Eagles album Desperado. Yes, that's one of the reasons I want to go there. Along the way, depending on which way I go, I may get to see some Jesse James history in Missouri as well. Where next? Who knows? Stay tuned!! The Eagles' song about the Dalton raid in 1892:

you seem so wound up in American History, if you get the opportunity there are a couple of places I would recommend. One is Tombstone Az. That's the one. Much of the town has been left in it's original build. Another would be the Alamo in San Antonio Texas. Not much left of the original mission but what is there is impressive. And rich with history. I don't know, maybe you have already been to both.

I have been to the Alamo, but not in 50 years. I vaguely remember it as a child. I do love history.

@FourWalls I've read a few of your posts and got that impression. I have a very good friend who used to teach History. He is in his 80's now. He got his PhD in History from Duke, he volunteers at the state parks where he can still teach about the little pieces that are here in this state. I would love to get the two of you together, you would have some interesting conversations I think.

The one thing I have always wanted to do is to get an RV and travel across the US

I don’t blame you in the least. I may eventually do that myself.

I can raise you Alabama on that. I thought you want to visit Coffeyville because it's Phil Ehart's home town.
