My partner, Adam, has been building a new pond as he thought our fish could do with a change of scenery. He's been out there in all weathers over the last year or so trying to assemble it and has now almost finished it. Having set up the filter and put in the gravel he invested in some weed but he really wanted a water lily. As luck would have it there was a reasonably priced one on Amazon but, when it arrived, it was just a root ball and a bag of compost. Fortunately he found a suitable pot for it and planted it up but he wasn't expecting the lily to survive. However, three weeks later, it's doing really well as you can see from the picture. I don't think we'll have any flowers on it this year but nonetheless it's looking very healthy.
