4th of July Fireworks

Many across the nation will be celebrating the nation's freedom tonight at fireworks displays. We have a display in Baton Rouge that is over the Mississippi River. The fireworks are set off on a barge in the middle of the river. This allows people on the Baton Rouge side of the river to see the fireworks and also the people on the west side of the river to enjoy them also. This display has gotten out of hand in the past with guns being fired and people injured. We no longer go to them and my adult children have also decided to watch from afar. You can see the fireworks just the same, so why subject your family to violence? Does your city or community host a fireworks display? Photo: Pixaby

Ours is held at the fairgrounds. The fair is going on too.

There are several displays within driving distance. I don't know if we're going to one this year. There is one on Sunday that we are considering.

I am content to stay home and watch a good movie. We really like it here in MS in the country. We rarely hear any fireworks on any of the holidays, even New Years Eve.

@kareng Our neighbor 2 doors down set off fireworks Tuesday (until 11:30 pm) and last night. I think he finally ran out. Thank goodness because they were really loud.

I have no idea about what they do here in Daytona Beach. I do not venture into crowds alone but I do hear fireworks going off all over the place.

You may be able to see some just by walking outside after dark. That would be the best way. Stay home to view them if you can.

The Independence Day of India (August 15) is not celebrated with fireworks, but Diwali night ( November New Moon night) sees it with a lot of noise and smoke.

I am sure that the Lake Charles region will have a fireworks show later on this evening from the Calcasieu River which is my home.

Is it well attended? The one in BR used to be nice but since the crime rate has increased so much there, it is not exactly safe now.

We don't hear or see any out here in the country. One year for new year's we did see a few big ones but that has been the extent of fireworks in the country for us. I don't miss it. They went wild in the subdivision we used to live in.
