The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, on the Lake Erie shore. It contains the history of those that influenced rock and roll, including artists, producers, engineers, etc.
Cleveland was chosen as the site for the Hall in 1986; and the groundbreaking took place on June 7, 1993. Billy Joel and Chuck Berry were among the attendees. The building was dedicated on September 1, 1995, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony which included Yoko Ono and Little Richard and had a crowd of more than 10,000 people.
The Museum tower is 162 feet high, cut back from 200 feet because of the proximity of Burke Lakefront Airport. The base of the building is approximately 150,000 square feet. Hall of Fame inductees are honored in a special exhibit in a wing that hangs out over Lake Erie. There are over 55,000 square feet of exhibit space plus administrative offices, a store and a cafe.
There are 7 levels to the building; and I can't enumerate all the exhibits that are represented; but I can give you a sampling: The Roots of Rock and Roll (country, bluegrass, folk, gospel, etc.), cities with a major impact upon rock and roll, Soul Music, Fifties, Hip Hop, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, One-Hit Wonders and artifacts from Les Paul and more. Temporary exhibits range from Elvis Presley to John Lennon and the Supremes to Women Who Rock, etc.
Have you ever been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? If so, what were your favorite exhibits? If not, would you like to go?

I've always wanted to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but have yet to make it there. I've been to Cleveland twice, both times it was to visit a girl, and needless to say I never made it out to do any sightseeing.
