What You Don’t See

Is the homeless
Sprawled our in
The street
Despondent
Broken
As we walk by
Thanking God
It’s not us.
We walk by
Sorrow
In a place of despair
Wondering
What brought
Those people
There!
There is beauty
In this place
But in many ways
It seems
To be
Strangled
By Sorrow!

Life seems to.be miserable for people on the street begging because of poverty.

Yes and in this city it’s just horrific, probably the worst I’ve seen!

@Michellekidwell I know for you said you're culturally shocked. Sooner or later you will be used to it.

@Michellekidwell Jeepers that is high. How does those people who own those rentals expect people to pay that?

Really stunning poem, thank you for calling attention to this plight. Up where I live, I see homeless people at times & it breaks my heart. When I used to live briefly in California, it seemed like there were homeless and panhandlers all over the place.
