Day 14
Revelation 6:7
Revelation 6:7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name who sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
When Jesus opened the fourth seal, John saw the pale horse and his rider, Death, and Hell followed him.
This rider is not the Antichrist, it is one of God’s judgments against those who rejected Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (KJV)
Ezekiel 14:21 For thus says the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?
Ezekiel’s prophesy of the fourth horseman, and Jesus’ declaration that only God can destroy soul and body in Hell, show this fourth horseman has God’s permission to destroy a fourth of mankind who refused to acknowledge Jesus as Savior and Lord.
David saw Death during a judgment plague against him. He had taken a census of Israel to know how many fighting men there were in Israel, something he wasn’t supposed to do, and God brought judgment against him of his choosing.
1 Chronicles 21:10 Go and tell David, saying, Thus says the LORD, I offer thee three things: choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.
11 So Gad came to David, and said unto him, Thus says the LORD, Choose thee
12 Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtakes thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him who sent me.
13 And David said unto Gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the LORD; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
14 So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.
15 And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD beheld, and he repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
16 And David lifted up his eyes, and saw the angel of the LORD stand between the earth and the heaven, having a drawn sword in his hand stretched out over Jerusalem. Then David and the elders of Israel, who were clothed in sackcloth, fell upon their faces.
17 And David said unto God, Is it not I who commanded the people to be numbered? Even I it is who have sinned and done evil indeed; but as for these sheep, what have they done? Let thine hand, I pray thee, O LORD my God, be on me, and on my father’s house; but not on thy people, that they should be plagued.
18 Then the angel of the LORD commanded Gad to say to David, that David should go up, and set up an altar unto the LORD in the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
19 And David went up at the saying of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the LORD.
20 And Ornan turned back, and saw the angel; and his four sons with him hid themselves. Now Ornan was threshing wheat.
21 And as David came to Ornan, Ornan looked and saw David, and went out of the threshing floor, and bowed himself to David with his face to the ground.
22 Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshing floor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.
23 And Ornan said unto David, Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering; I give it all.
24 And king David said to Ornan, Nay; but I will verily buy it for the full price: for I will not take that which is thine for the LORD, nor offer burnt offerings without cost.
25 So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.
26 And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.
27 And the LORD commanded the angel; and he put up his sword again into the sheath thereof.
Not only David, but Ornan and his sons, along with the elders of Israel, saw the angel of Death with drawn sword ready to destroy Jerusalem.
The fourth horseman, Death, will bring destruction to a fourth of mankind in God’s fourth judgment against those who refused to acknowledge Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Have you accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord? If so, you have nothing to fear from this fourth judgment. However, should Jesus return for His bride today and rapture the church, will you be part of those to whom God will bring His judgment?
You have a choice to accept or reject Jesus as Savior and Lord. Your decision will determine God’s judgment in your eternal destination, heaven or hell.
Remember, God doesn’t want to send anyone to Hell. He wants to see everyone saved and come to repentance. It isn’t His decision but yours where you spend eternity.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (KJV)
Don’t let the sword of God’s judgment come against you as you draw your final breath.
Let’s pray: Father, let Your mercy and favor find me faithful as You bring judgment on those who refuse Your Son, Jesus. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
