I have heard of a lot of unusual coincidences in life but this is truly amazing that it happened at the same time. While about 1,000 emigrants were taking the rough and unknown journey along the Oregon Trail to get to the west coast and the U.S. state of Oregon, the predecessor to the fax machine was being invented in Scotland. This all happened on May 27, 1843.
Scottish inventor Alexander Bain received the patent for the Electric Printing Telegraph which is known today as the granddaddy to the modern fax machine. It happened so long ago and those emigrants making their way west could never imagine that something like that was going on while they had no electricity to light their way.
Have you heard of some unusual coincidences?
