I have known this flower as Bethlehem Lily but never known as Queen of Night. My youngest brother called me this morning and show ed the flower how it starting to bloom. He was describing about the flower how it has sweet fragrance and bloom at night time and as I have never seen the flower blooming at night time. Actually this lily was planted by one of my younger sister and left without her care but to be cared by him.
So, I search the details of this flower in internet and found out that Bethlehem Lily is native to Central America and Northern South America. So it seems this lily is common to these places. In India, it is known as Nishagandhi and Brahma Kamala. Interestingly though its’ been known as Lily but it is claim to from the cactus family. I am just awaiting for the flowers to bloom and get the real fragrance of this particular flower. Hope it will bloom sooner!
