Day 19 Revelation 8:7 Revelation 8:7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. 8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; 9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. 10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; 11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter. 12 And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise. 13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound! How much trouble can people endure at one time? God’s judgments continue with the Trumpet Judgments, each one worse than the one before it. God showed John that nothing will escape His judgment. When God brought His judgment of plagues against Egypt, He sent hail and fire mingled with blood. God broke the rod of Egyptian rule with His ten plagues. Here God will break governments who refuse the gospel of Jesus Christ. No one will be left out of His judgment, trees, governments, grass, common people, will see destruction. God brought judgment against those who depended on the seas and oceans for their livelihood. In all the destruction God brought against governments and people, we also see God’s mercy. God will destroy one-third of mankind. With the devastating destruction, leaders’ men looked up to would fade. They would no longer be the bright stars who governed their lives. Everything would be chaos as men look for leadership to guide them. With the world in turmoil, John saw another angel announcing that the remaining woes would be worse than the first four. When you thought it couldn’t get worse, God promised further destruction on the people. Where do you stand with Jesus Christ? Have you accepted Him as Savior and Lord? Will you see the destruction God will rein on the earth should the Tribulation occur in your lifetime? Or will you be with your Lord Jesus Christ removed from God’s final judgments because the world rejected Jesus, His Son, as their Savior? Let’s pray: Father, You showed the world what will happen in the end times if people reject Your Son, Jesus, as their Savior. Let Your warnings be heard now. Show me what I must do to bring Your gospel to the world before it’s too late and Your judgments fall on mankind. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
