Chris Parker (Elisabeth Shue) is getting ready for her anniversary date with her boyfriend, Mike. They plan on going to a French restaurant in downtown Chicago; however, Mike calls and cancels because his sister is ill. The Andersons call to ask Chris to babysit their daughter, Sara; and Chris agrees. Chris arrives at the Andersons; and Sara and her 15-year-old brother, Brad, are there. Brad has a mega-crush on Chris. The Andersons leave; and Brad's friend, Daryl, stops by. Brad was supposed to spend the night at Daryl's; but now that he sees that Chris will be babysitting, he wants to stay home. Chris receives a frazzled call from her friend, Brenda. She has run away from home and is in a bus station downtown with no money for a cab ride home. Sara won't let Chris leave her at home, especially since she's getting paid to babysit. Daryl overhears the conversation; so Brad, Daryl and Sara go along for the ride into town despite Chris's misgivings about taking them downtown. They head into the city and are on the freeway. Just then a tire blows out; and they are stuck on the freeway without a spare; and Chris left her purse at the Andersons. This is a comedy with some really improbable situations in it; but it's entertaining nonetheless. I always enjoy it every time I watch it. I especially like it when Chris Parker has to sing the blues. Don't know what I'm talking about? Then you'll have to watch the movie! The movie was released in 1987 and is rated PG-13. @LindaOHio It sounds like it has a lot in it but also sounds scary with no tire and with her purse at the kid's house is not good at all.

In real life I would be petrified to be downtown with no money and a blown tire!
