Finbar McBride (Peter Dinklage of Game of Thrones fame), is crazy about trains -- model trains, books about trains, anything. Finbar is a little person who is 4 feet 5 inches tall. He's the subject of constant attention; so he's quiet, keeps to himself and to date is unmarried. He works at a Rockaway, New Jersey, model train hobby shop owned by his friend, Henry Styles (Paul Benjamin).
Henry dies; and the shop is going to be closed; but Fin inherits a piece of property with a train depot on it in the Newfoundland section of Jefferson Township, New Jersey.
He moves into the abandoned train depot and hopes to live a life of solitude; but that doesn't work out. The people of the town work their way into Fin's life.
The movie also stars Patricia Clarkson, Michelle Williams, Bobby Cannavale and Raven Goodwin. This is a very quiet movie. You will not see a lot of action in it. This movie is about personal relationships and personal drama. Fin gets to know some of the residents of the town and finds friends where he only expected to find solitude. This movie received very positive reviews. I enjoyed it; and I think you will too.
The movie was released in 2003 and is rated R.
