"The need has a dog's face"

This is a saying very used in my country, to refer to that in difficult or precarious situations one is forced to do things that normally would not do, to invent them. But sincerely I can not understand why the association. Dogs are beautiful and so noble animals (man's best friend), then because comparison. I would like to know your opinion and if in your country (of course different from mine), this expression is also used.

in my case my dog always has a bitter face, hehehe I think for that reason it will be the refrain

i think they refer to the dogs are doing anything his owner wants even if he doesn't like it, well my dog is pretty bossy though, he will bark at me when he is hungry

It would be better to say this way; necessity is the mother of all inventions. That's when you're in need you do things to find it or else you won't survive.
